Frequently Asked Questions

Does GPMCT own the Great Pond Mountain Trail?
Because the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands encompasses land on both the east and west flanks of Great Pond Mountain, portions of the Great Pond Mountain Trail are owned by Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust. Much of the trail however, is still owned by private land- owners, and the trailhead is on a private road. GPMCT does not currently own the summit of the mountain. The trail is open to the public, but please respect private property.

Protecting this is what we work for.

Are dogs allowed in the Wildlands? Dogs are allowed on  leash only (hunting  dogs  under  voice control are an exception). This guideline is to protect the wildlife, other visitors, and your dog!

Does GPMCT have plans to link the two pieces of the Wildlands?
GPMCT seeks to cooperate with willing landowners when possible to create recreation linkages and wildlife corridors between protected properties. This can work via trail agreements, conservation easements, or donations or bargain sales of land.
