Every Tuesday afternoon for the past six years, rain, shine, sleet, or snow, kids from KidsPeace New England in Ellsworth have traveled to the Wildlands to work with Steward Jake Maier at first and now Steward Brian Keegstra on whatever project called out the loudest. Kids have installed birdhouses, removed beaver dams, thinned acres of  forest, and dug numerous waterbars across the roadways.  Afterwards, they light their little grill, cook their hot dogs and hamburgs, and enjoy the sounds and sights of an evening in the Wildlands. The kids have gained a great deal from this collaboration over the years, and KidsPeace thanks the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust for the opportunity.
